It depends. If you're buying used, you're stuck with what's there.
Many lines no longer offer a manual at all, or require that you get a
very specific setup to get a stick. For example, the Saturn Vue can be
had with an auto or manual, but the manual only allows front wheel drive
and the 4-cylinder; with an auto, you can go up to the V6 and AWD.

My manual requirement forced me to order my Dak as well, and I'm very
glad I did it. I got the absolute exact truck I wanted.
