you can't run a cat with that kit... the cat would catalyze some of the raw
gas. if he was running a cat, that explains why the flames didn't go too
far or look good... they were starved for fuel.

i saw one done on horsepower TV or Trucks TV... it looked pretty slick, the
flames shot out about 5-6feet, but i would never do that to my truck.

I saw a "how to do it yourself" for this on Truckin' a while back.
Definitely not something I'd do on my truck. It's cool...the first time
but there's definitely nothing healty about doing it. Think of all that
raw fuel going through your cat.
