OK, now the tranny's been swapped, so we know that's in good shape.
What's the next broken thing to be found? And the one after that?

Once Tom got Christine started Friday night, we thought he was OK. Then
the engine died. Water in the gas. Drain the water/gas mix out of the
tank, now it won't start. Fix that, now it won't idle. Finally get it
idling, now, it's something else. Fix that, he's on the trail. Next
morning, fuel pump craps out. Fix that, now the transmission's not working.

Point being, you can change the tranny, but I'm still not going to trust
the truck for 800 miles to get home. There's probably something else
hiding behind that transmission.
