"Chevy is coming out with the Colorado. This is a mid-sized truck with an
available V8."

The last official information that I saw from Chevrolet on this truck only
stated that there were two engines available. A 4 cylinder and a 5
cylinder. I've heard through the grape vine that Chevrolet is going to
offer the Colorado with the v8, but it won't be until some time after the
truck is introduced in the market.

"Have you noticed that the Dakota is NEVER featured (or even shown for that
matter) in any of the Dodge commercials?"

I wouldn't take that as too much of an indicator if Dodge is going to drop
the Dakota or not. There are a lot of cars out there that stay on the
market and are never featured in any TV commercials. Also, I went to the
auto show this year and Chevrolet didn't even have a Colorado there for
anyone to look at. Wouldn't that have been a good place for Chevrolet to
advertise the new Colorado? Marketing is a weird thing and it doesn't
always make sense.

The Dakota is a good truck. At one time it was the "only kid on the block".
Now it has two neighbors. The Toyota Tundra and the Chevrolet Colorado.
Hopefully the competition will benefit the development and improvements to
the Dakota.

Just my thoughts,
