IMHO, a tonneau (of any variety) is the absolute best mod for the money.
  I noticed the exact same thing when I got crosswinds - with the
tonneau off, that bed acts like a giant scoop and really pushes you
around. And the mileage improvement is most welcome.

I don't have enough miles on the QC w/o a tonneau to say for sure
though. I installed it a month after getting the truck. The CC,
though, went a year w/o a tonneau and it made a *huge* difference.
