I picked up (or reduced hehe) 4/10ths with 1.92 RT heads, NON ported-- and went from 96.5 mph to 99.5-100 mph (depending on the temps)... That's with stock gears (and no change in converter-- did the converter afterwards, and really didn't make a difference NA)

Most guys go with 2.02s-- and you're right, there's low end loss going that route.

What did all the head work run you pricewise?? That's another consideration-- the fact that you're were fine, and not cracked is amazing-- It is a common thing -- about as common as a blow belly pan gasket, or the leaking stock t-stat housing.

There is a mid 13s street driven, 318 auto-- here in So Cal-- has the RT 1.97s valves-- a mean as cam-- Truck looks plain jane too.

Little bastard got me on the street-- but was nice enough to come back when he saw me later at a gas station. I have his phone number somewhere.
