Bob,
Must have had an automatic.
My 98 Sport is a 5.2 5spd. NV3500 (350 ft/lb rating - weak for a 360), the
rear is a 9 1/4 with 3.92s. The weak link in the setup is the
clutch/pressure plate, then the rear springs (when using ET Drags - oops!!).
The tranny lunched itself at 11k (upgraded clutch to Centerforce Dual
Friction), but the replacement tranny has 60k+ and about 300 passes.
With the clutch/pressure plate, Hooker 5008s, exhaust dump, 28" ET Drags,
and CalTracs (after the bent springs), it was running 9.2 @ 78 in the 1/8th
(somewhere around a 14.00 1/4).
