The 42 and 44 series transmissions can be built up to handle plenty of
power. Just depends on who builds it and what parts they use.
Remember, there is a 10-second truck out there using a 44RE.

Yup, 44RE and 8.25" rear end too. Was going down the path to a
blower(Procharger at that time) and it just wasn't making sense.
