Jet Warz plus Pro Mods Racing (4 Jet Funny cars and 4 Jet Rail cars
doing over 300 mph/hr, plus an open field of Pro Mods) plus a Super Stock
class were featured at TMP this Labour Day weekend. Regular bracket
races were held to let these BIG boys cool down :-P

Going into today, I had a 1 point lead on a competitor, whom I had been
tied with for most of the season, for 5th place in the Street ET Class
standings. AFAIK, he was not at the track today.
In elimination round 1, I was paired with a kind of sleeper-looking, full
size Chev. Fortunately, I had run against him in a time trial. He put up
a 13.54 dial to my 14.48. At the 1000' marker, I picked him up in my
side mirror and he was way, way back. I later found out that his rt
was a .876 to my .572. I played with the Go pedal to ease up but just
enough to stay ahead of him. No breakout for me :-)
I crossed with a 14.677 @ 85.94 to his 13.627 @ 100.58 for a .19 win.
In Round 2, my competitor was a fellow TMPer who has been dogging
in the standings for most of the season. He put up a 18.10 to my 14.55.
We were the first pair up after the 8 Jet cars ran their first round for
qualifying times. I had received a tip that the track gets quite slippery
after these babies run. I don't know what kind of fuel they run but you
sure smell kerosene after a run! They also take a long time to get their
races started so our motors were darn right cold when we made our runs :-(
Just after I launched, I caught his red bulb out of the corner of my eye.
Turned out his rt was a .414 to my "sterling" .704 :-P I decided to run
full out, passed him and finished with a 14.42 @ 95.30 to his 18.35
@ 72.46 for the win.
In round 3, I was laddered (draw determined by computer and ?) with
a '56 Pontiac who made the semis in last Sunday's race. His dial
was a 14.94 to my 14.45. He deep-staged and left with a .581 rt.
I did a perfect shallow stage and bulbed with a .499! By this time,
it was around 8 p.m. and the sun was almost set so conditions were
pretty good. I ran her out, passed him and finished with a 14.32 @ 95.66
(best for the day) to his 14.99 @ 92.19.
I finished the day increasing my lead for 5th spot to 3 points but missed
out on some prize money by not getting into round 4 (semis) :-( AFAIK,
the two TMP racers who were tied for 3rd were still going at it to see
who would get the 3rd and 4th spots in round 4.

Unable to answer the call due to an assortment of aches and pains brought
about by old age and a long 15-hour Saturday :-( Except for a non-points
bracket race on Sept. 21 (warm-up session for those going on to the
IHRA Summit Series in OH, I'll be t&t on very good weather days trying
to set a new pb. Then, it's time to pack her in for good :-( IT'S BEEN FUN!!
