Jayson,

If you used the last run of Mopar Power Steering Fluid (clear/thin
liquid), drain the system and refill with ATF+4. You can also add a
little bit of the Lucas Power Steering additive to help quiet down the
whining noise. If that doesn't help...time for a new pump.

Subject: DML: Another Power Steering Question

My used dakota has an intermitant awful whine that goes with the
steering. I'm certian the pump is on the way out. The fluid is full,
but I suspect at some point it was ran low. It is pretty dark, but
isn't that natural as it runs (color change, not dirt).

So what needs fixin, how much and can I do it my self?

Also, it's not a big deal as it stands. Would the pump fail suddenly or

can I put it off to a convient time?
