Yes, for the most part that is correct. There are aftermarket MFI and EFI
kits available, but you're better off going carb in that case.

Basically, if you go the route of installing a 360ci/380hp Mopar crate
motor, you're ripping all the computers and harnesses out and starting from
scratch.

Trust me, if you want to go fast with minimal hassle and daily drivability,
a 390 or 408 stroker is the way to go. KRC offers a ready-to-run kit that
will drop straight in and run with stock heads/manifolds/PCM/ignition/etc.
for $3900 +s&h. It's their "tow/RV tune" 408 stroker. This starting point
will build up to a tarmac chewing beast if you want. Here's a great example:

Or, if you want, you can start lurking in the wrecker yards and see what you
can dig up for cheap - time and money are interchangeable ;-).

Show me a Hemi Dak conversion that can kick out those numbers, and by that I
mean -torque- especially, because that's the only way you're going to push a
4000+ lb. vehicle into the mid to high 12s on all motor. I bet the tow/RV
stroker alone would cause you to have to take drugs to wipe the silly grin
off your face after you mash the go pedal...

I'm sure the "Hemi" aftermarket will catch up eventually, but a) I want to
go fast and beat Lightnings -now- dammit, and b) the "Hemi" parts will cost
more because hey, it's a HEMI, so we know we can gouge the Hemi fanboys for
all they've got ;-).

That's my take on it, anyway.
