Non Std Exhaust Causes "Farts"

The Truck: '98 Dakota SLT, 5.2 liter, 5sp. manual, 352 rear
 
I replaced the stock exhaust muffler with a Flow Master (single in,
duel out) and now I have the dreaded 318 farts. Does anyone know what year
controller chip fixed this problem? I can find 1999 chips but want to be
sure it really fixed the problem before ordering it. .... or do I need the
2000 controller chip? Any help would really be appreciated.
