Mechanic has measured everything, all welds and seals are good, including
the gas cap.
 
A previous append in 1998 had one owner replacing his Power-train Controller
Chip (PCM) with a 1999 or a 2000 chip where they changed the fuel flow for
rough engine idle ...wasn't clear which he used, so I was trying to get some
input.

Make sure you do not have an air leak in the system anywhere because that
can cause that noise too.
