Why do you want to install a premagnum engine in a magnum truck? If the
engine is free or cheap - sell it to get funds for something else...
Sure you could do that kind of an install. The engine will bolt right
up in place. Engine mounts are the same etc... but the fuel and
computer systems are totally different. The fuel pumps for magnum
engines are designed for use with higher pressure multipoint injection.
(Approx 55 PSI for MPFI vs. 14-15 for Throttle Body Fuel Injection)
The fuel pressure would be too high.
If you wanted to try to use just engine parts between an premag and a
magnum engine.. that wont work either.
The heads and manifolds are not cross compatible. The 87-90 premagger
V6's are LA based blocks and thus are not interchangable with magnum
blocks (different bolt patterns and angles). Distrib. *might* work.
I'm fuzzy in that area - cant say for sure.
The engine computer from a magnum will not work with a premagger engine.
Aside from the fuel and computer differences... it would work.
If it was me? I would get a 318 Magnum if cost is a factor... that would
be a cheaper route for an engine swap.. minimal amount of mods needed
for that... but if funds are good - - sky's the limit!
