My dad had installed one of the originals on my old '69 Javelin
many-moons ago (back in the mid 70's) and it still worked perfectly when
I sold the car (three years ago). I've got one on my truck as well as
on my wife's Jeep and they as well...cause no problems and are reliable.

Gotta love the simple things that work effectively and reliably. :)
