I put mine back on afterwards. Nice to keep crap from flying up in
there, but PIA when trying to change the filter. It would be a little
easier if the filter weren't at an angle, too.

Hah, not me... I would have dumped oil all over the garage floor if I
didn't have a "backup pan" underneath. :)
