I think my problem was mostly that the linkage was out of adjustment,
although the fluid that I had used did make the problem worse.

However, there was someone on the list a while back who had a problem from
using the wrong fluid. I'd have to check the archives, but IIRC he had a
'93 and tried Mobil 1 ATF in it. Wouldn't stay in four wheel drive until
he flushed it out and put a different fluid back in. I think the guy's
name was David, but I'm not sure (not much help, I know). Maybe someone
else will remember more details before I get a chance to go digging.
