Assuming you want to stick to the correct specs for tranny fluid, the
only place to get true ATF+4 is from the dealer...

I know that Redline has friction modifier already in their synthetic
gear oil, and I'm pretty sure that Mobil 1 does also. I'm getting
ready to switch my diffs over to Redline, probably next week.
Unfortunately I'm not going to have the time to do it myself.

IIRC, there's several different types of fluids that you can use in
the transfer case. Just pick a reliable name brand. ATF+3 is still
recommended for use in mine (don't think it's changed), so I suppose
you could go with a synthetic fluid for that as well. I wonder if
that'd really make any difference. I might have to look into that
when it's time to change my t-case fluid again (going to be a while).
I'm thinking that the synthetics maintain their properties longer,
which is important to me because I'm not putting very many miles on my
truck anymore (between 9k-10k a year) so the fluids aren't going to
get changed as often. Something in my brain makes me stick to the 3
months/3,000 miles thing for oil changes, though. Last month I
changed the oil at 2600 miles because it had been almost 4 months.
Yes, I'm weird. :-) I sent a sample in to blackstone and everything
came back good. Of course, they've got me wanting to send another
sample in after this oil change -- I used one of the $9 K&N oil
filters this time as opposed to the Mopar one that was on there
before. I'm curious to see if it makes much of a difference in the
insolubles.

I swear, the DML causes me to spend money on some of the strangest
crap...
