Hi,
I had the same thing happen. But I had two problems: a
bad coil plus the harness from the coil to the ASD
(auto shutdown relay) was too close to the exhaust
manifold. The heat caused the signal to be lost, thus
activating the shut off to the fuel pump and spark
(that's what the asd relay is for). Same symptoms:
slight hesitation at first, then the truck would run
fine. But finally the truck died.
Took a while to figure it out. Had to trace the wires
out using fsm. BTW... it's the wire at the bottom of
the coil that i'm talking about. Not much play in it
just try to route it over the top of the coil. Never
had a problem since. And just an FYI: even a coil that
tests ok (just marginally though as mine did) can/will
cause similar symptoms.
