Hi David, its been awhile.

Good info and what you said seems to confirm
the testing. I generally go to 5,000 miles with each Mobil1
change. After seeing the data, I'll have to extend it a little
further with maybe a filter replacement.

FWIW,

I have been using Mobil 1 almost exclusively in my turbo cars since I got my
first new turbo Daytona in 1985. I have always gone with a 7500 mile change
interval when a synthetic was in the sump. The 85 Daytona had 240,000 miles
on
it when my son totaled it. The only non-maintenance engine work done on that
car was a coolant leak that required a new head gasket. At 240,000 miles it
was
running strong and the turbo did not leak or use any oil. My second turbo
Daytona had 176,000 miles on it when I sold it. I replaced the head gasket
on
it at 170,000 and there was still honing marks in the cylinders top to
bottom.
The engine and turbo were still strong on it. Because of the 7/70 warranty
my
current 03 turbo PT cruiser is getting the owners manual specified "Schedule
A"
drain interval of 5000 miles but will go to 7500 as soon as it's off
warranty.

On my non-turbo vehicles I mostly use dino oil but do use synthetic 5W-30 in
the winter. When using dino oil I drain at 5000 miles and with synthetic I
drain at 7500. My 89 Dakota had 250,000 miles on it when I sold it. The
engine
still ran strong but leaked oil. In my 35 years of owning cars I have
followed
this routine and never had an internal engine failure and all of them
accumulated 150,000 to 275,000 miles before I deceided to dispose of them.

I have always considered 3000 mile oil changes to be a huge over kill and
doing
that with synthetic to be a pure waste of money.
