home safe and sound

hey all,

just a quick note (I'm not quite falling asleep as I type, but my mind
isn't entirely here....) to say I made it - uneventfully, even!

I also got the truck rolling under its own power again. even a half
missing transfer case has neutral..... my mother and I hadn't quite
figured out how to get the truck up the driveway into the garage (I got
the UHaul stuck and had to drop the trailer when I tried to back the
loaded trailer up the hill) when I went under to assess damage and
disconnect the front driveshaft.

the first thing I saw when I was actually under the truck was that the
shift linkage was disconnected, and it somehow got knocked into neutral
while it was at Dodge. I reconnected that and it'll go all over now.

as for collateral damage - there are a couple dings and dents in the
floorboard, the entire undercarriage is covered in Mobil synthetic ATF,
and there are some small dings in the edge of the trans pan - no leak
though, and my temp sensor is okay.

I think there was something else that I was going to mention but I
don't remember what.

in other news, I'll never own a vehicle without cruise control or
without a center armrest. and the 6-ish MPG I got proves that it
really wanted to be a diesel too.
