I've got a spray in bed liner as well but have never had any problems with
the tailgate shutting.

you have line-x. now I see the problem. I had a similar problem on my '02
Dak after I got the rhino-liner. All I had to do was shave back the rubber
plugs that the tailgate shuts against. Then I never had a problem again.
