I'd been wondering when this issue would come up in the discussion. I
agree with josh - I don't like DRLs. However my problem is their
implementation. I personally drive with my parking lights on (though I
prefer to call them 'running lights' - blame boating/ end of aside),
because it makes me visible to the front and rear, without distracting
anyone. DRLs as often implemented add glare while at the same time
only helping visibility to the front.

I see way too many people who leave on their DRLs until well into dusk
(assumedly thinking 'I'm visible b/c I have DRLs, and not being stupid.
  that's a reach, I know) rather than moving to parking or headlights
which illuminate the rear as well.

What the Caravans and Ventures (and Freightliner Century class and
derivatives) among few others do with their front turn signals serving
as DRLs I like. but it still is bad in back.

sorry to dredge topics, but this is something I'd kinda like to see
discussed even if it is 300 messages old....
