  There shouldn't be any negative effects regarding tire life,
exhaust crud, etc. The sound probably will change - it will
be a little more harsh and less "refined". That tailpipe actually
does quite a bit to muffle the sound. As far as the cab droning
noise goes, its hard to say but I suspect it probably won't help
the situation.

  When my Gibson cat-back rusted off, I replaced it with a
Dynomax Race Magnum muffler, exiting in front of the right
rear tire. It was way too loud for me - I had to put the cat
back in. That tamed it enough to make it bearable.
