We own a 2003 Liberty Renegade, (just added a brush guard to it this
weekend), and we don't really notice any excessive noise at 3k rpm, but we
did not drive any of the other models so I cannot say if it is quieter, I
doubt that it is. However, this has a sunroof that may cause more
insulation there, but I would guess they are all insulated the same. We
have been very happy with it to this point. My wife drives a lot, she has
15,000 miles on it and bought it July 2, 2003.

Subject: DML: Jeep Liberty (Off Topic)

I'm hopeing that some on out there has a spouse, brother/sister or friend
with a 4x4 Jeep Liberty.

My brother is looking to buy one and just wanted to get some additional
info for him after we went for a test drive Saturday night.

The only 4x4 on the lot was a Sport model, he's looking for a Renegade.
What I noticed was that there's quite a bit of engine noise once the 3.7
revs up to about 3000 RPM. Was wondering if any one had experience with a
the Limited or Renegade package to know if there was any additional noise
insulation included with those packages.

Now for a little Dak related content. Seeing as how the new Durango and
Dakota have the 3.7 as the base engine. Like the 4.7, it's very smooth
accelerating, hard to notice when it shifts from 1st to 2nd around 40 MPH
but it lacks that low end grunt that the 3.9 had in my last dak. It did
seem to have ample power to get the vehicle up to highway speed, but I'm
guessing like with my old 3.9 that accelerating from 60 - 80 requires a
little planning and timing if you're planning on passing some one. Boy I
love having the 360 in my current Dak ;) (Don't like the visits to the
gas station though :| )
