It's been one year since I got my QC and time to tally up the numbers:

'03 QC 4x4 4.7L 5-speed 3.92 gears 265/70R16 tires, Mobil 1 since 6000 miles
Miles: 17444
Gallons: 1114.86
Calculated MPG: 15.6
Best MPG: 19.01
Worst MPG: 12.00 (yes, exactly)
Hours engine on: 422
Miles per engine hour: 38.67
Gallons per engine hour: 2.49
Mile per day: 47.8

In comparison, for the first 365 days I tracked stats on my '99:

'99 CC 4x4 318 Auto 3.55 gears 31x10.5R15 tires, synthetic blend
(Valvoline/ Jiffy Lube)
Miles: 15744
Gallons: 1094.22
Calculated MPG: 14.93
Best MPG: 19.75
Worst MPG: 11.64
Miles per day: 42.78

I have more miles on the QC at this point than I did the CC, but my
commute is about 33% shorter. Which translates to more highway miles
(which inflates my overall mileage).

Not a bad improvement in mileage considering the '03 is heavier, has
lower gears, and I had almost no clue what I was doing with the 5-speed
when I got it. However, I also did not have a tonneau on the '99 for
most of that first year.
