The trouble (I find) with trying to teach someone how to drive
a stick is its sort've like trying to teach a person how to
breathe. After you learn how its done, you stop thinking about it
and just do it. That can be a bit difficult to convey. ;-)
Plus, there are so many different clutch/transmission/engine
combinations out there that every vehicle has their own feel -
even after you learn the basics, every time you drive a new
vehicle you basically re-learn or adjust for that combo. So
its not like you can tell someone exactly how to drive a stick,
they are all different. I think that in this case, the best
teacher is experience. Show 'em the ropes and set them free to
practice in an empty parking lot or something. Might take a few
years off your clutch though. ;-)
