Hey guys,
Well, it's been two weeks now since I put the spark plugs in -- I've
noticed a difference to driveability -- with the exhaust, coil and new
plugs the truck actually feels like it wants to haul ass on the highway.
Last saturday I changed the oil, and, I couldn't find how much oil I
should put back in the sucker.. I remember someone once saying that I
should put 3-4 in the engine.. I went ahead and put the full five..
Now, I've noticed that the truck is taking to stalling when I attempt to
~ feather the gas while just starting out. You know, you're in the
parking lot and you just want to lightly ease out of a spot? Yeah,
can't do that. Truck stalls. If I give it a healthy amount of
throttle, it will rev down for a second but then catch up to itself.
I'm sure this isn't normal -- is the excess oil causing the problem?
Other things that may be causing an issue:
1) I'm down to below a quarter of a tank; I've never had the dakota buck
on me from lack of fuel (it used to happen to the astro if I went too
low on the tank)
2) I've got a bottle of gumout fuel injector cleaner in the tank (from
when I filled up last -- mixed it in with a full tank)
3) My spark plugs seem to be gapped a little generously (I'm going to
pull them and decrease the size a bit, since I think one or more of the
cylinders are occasionally not firing) I attempted a 45 gap, but I dont
think it was quite 45, maybe closer to 50 on some of the plugs -- how
hard should it be to remove the gapper from the gap?
I hope that this is an easy fix and I was just a dumbass, or if this may
be indicative of a bigger problem. I just spent $1500 on the dak last
month, I can't afford it again!
Thanks,
Dirty Pete
