Everything changed in the tank assembly between GenI & GenII. Very easy to
see the difference.
All sending units are replaceable separately. Way too many problems with
giving correct indications.
At least 1994 up have a separble filter that clamps on to the bottom of the
pump housing. It's stainless housing, with pleated medium. It's 1.4x5.0
inches, and all fuel must go through it to get to the check valve at the
bottom of the pickup.
There are two pumps for GenII also. 1994 up use a returnless system. It is
not interchangeable with re-
turn systems.
Lastly, hasn't anyone ever just jacked up the damn bed from the front??
GenII pump assemblies are about 14 inches while extended. thats how much
room you need. Just remove the front six bed bolts and loosen up the two
rear ones about 3/4 of an inch. Two 4x4 studs cut to anywhere from 15 to 20
inches will support the bed just fine. I've done it that way at least six
times since 1991 on 3 differ-
ent daks and intend to do it again in the next 2 or so weeks to slap a 22 in
my '95 Sport, and replace
that stupid filter.
