Never had a problem with it.

All we use on most of the Chrysler transmissions is the Mopar ATF-RTV.
Stinks like hell but doesn't leak.

I hate RTV. I can never get a perfect seal with it. When I changed my
diff fluid last time, I used some 1/8" cork sheet to make my own gasket.
It hasn't leaked at all, and IMO is a great improvement over RTV. Plus,
there's no scraping or time that you've got to wait to let it dry and
it's easy to remove.

Maybe you could try this route with your trans pan? When I did mine, I
took the diff cover off and xeroxed it so that I'd get a nice outline of
the mating surface. I then transferred the pattern onto my cork sheet
and cut it out with scissors.
