(or...just put the bolt through the hood and use a large bumber washer
and nut. That way, the hood is locked down for high-speed passes!) ;)

In the spirit of not crushing a new hat or punching a dimple into the
hood, I bought a chunk of clay and will see how much it compresses with
the hood shut tonight. If there is enough room for a 4" hat plus the
retaining nut, I've found a source for an injection molded high flow hat
for $58.00 shipped!
