Manual transmission fluid

So, for the AX-15 in my '95 V6, I've been using Motomaster synthetic
75W90 (Motomaster is the Canadian Tire store brand).

Recently, I read on this list that one shouldn't use GL-5 fluid in
manual transmissions, as it's bad for the synchros. I checked, and the
synthetic stuff does meet GL-5. So does the semi-synthetic, and the
non-synthetic. Same for Amsoil, same for all the 75W90 I could find at
Wal-Mart.

I checked my FSM, and it actually says that the recommended fluid is
75W90, GL-5 spec. Now I'm confused... I thought GL-5 was bad??? If
that's what the FSM says to use, it can't be all bad, can it?
