Jon,
I hope I didn't screw up here. To start, I do not have a separate trans.
cooler on my truck. The trans. lines run straight into the radiator.
The trans. line on the passenger side has been replaced by a shop some
time back. That is, there was no crimped line present like on the driver's
side. But, whoever replaced it still used the stock plastic line lock
fittings instead of running the hose straight to the radiator. I tried
everything I could to get those fitting hooked up to the new radiator, but
no luck....they wouldn't push on.
So, I decided to get new hose and run straight to the new radiator and do
away with the stock connectors all together. I removed the crimped hose
from the drivers side as well.
Now I'm at the point that I can put the new radiator in and run a piece of
3/8" line on either side directly to the radiator. But, I'm kinda second
guessing myself now. The new radiator came with both type fittings...the
kind that work with the stock plastic clips and the kind that look like they
accept a regular hose and hose clamp.
Do you see any problem with using two pieces of hose and 4 hose clamps to
complete the job (throwing away the stock setup)? Is there pressure on
these lines that won't allow for this? Am I missing anything here??? I
don't need one of these lines coming off and emptying my transmission. :)
Thanks.
