I would start with service. The 99 FSM I got from you had a very complete
description of how the mopar system works. There are only two body computers,
if you get a vehicle with keyless entry you get the body computer with the
alarm functions in it. Everthing in these vehicles is tied together via a two
wire bus, so if the alarm is tripped, besides flashing the lights and honking
the horn it shuts down the ecm so the engine will not run. If you order the
factory alarm they just turn it on via the OBDII Diagnostic Port using the DRB
tool at the factory. Apparently there is a body computer menu that is accessed.
The only thing that was not clear is once it's set can it be switched or do you
need a new body computer.

My son has been working in the service department of a Toyota & Dodge dealer on
the Toyota side for a couple of years, good for getting parts at cost but not
for getting any kind of inside knowledge on these type of matters from the
Dodge side. He starts next Monday at a Chrysler/Jeep dealer and will have ready
access to the DRB tool so I plan to see if I can turn it on in my Dakota. I
have already tried to access this type of menu with my laptop but the software
I have only allows for ready/clearing codes and monitoring the O2 sensor,
injectors and other engine related functions.
