Not a 318, but a Dak: My 2.5 89 Dak gets mid-20s avg MPG with the 195'
tstat compared to high-teens with the 180'. Got both tstats from Napa.
Tested over several tanks last summer. My be just the nature of the 2.5
beast, but the principle may translate. <shrug>

I had a 180 in my '95 V6 that was stuck partially open. Bob Tom's
scanner
showed that the engine was only hitting about 167, if memory serves.

When I replaced it, I went back to the stock heat range. Fuel mileage
seems to have improved by about 2 MPG. Granted, the weather also got
warmer shortly thereafter, so it's difficult to say whether that was the
only reason.

I know this doesn't answer your question exactly, just thought I'd pass
along my experience.
