I understand, but wearing the helmet would not have made a difference to her
legs.
Further, there are many more head injuries to AUTOMOBILE drivers than
motorcyclists. The percentage of bikers that crash have head injuries, I am
sure, but many more car drivers have head injuries, so..should we make them
wear helmets?

I am sorry for your friend. Lost several friends over the years.

Wow... what strange timing. I was just talking on the phone with a friend
of mine in Texas. She's on her way today to her sister-in-law's funeral.
Sad day for her. Seems she was riding her motorcycle just 1/4 mile down the
road and had an accident and no helmet. That was 2 years ago... She
developed numerous complications over the years directly related to the
accident, and just last week had one leg amputated due to uncontrollable
swelling and some other medical jargon that I didn't understand. As they
solved one problem, others popped up and took their place.

The complications were coming in faster than the doctors could correct it.
They even considered amputating the other leg, but they didn't have enough
time. Just before I hung up the phone, my friend said.. "If only she had
her helmet on, I wouldn't have to see her like this today". Hard to say if
all these problems were directly attributed to not wearing a helmet, but
only the Doctors can say for sure. It just was such weird timing... having
this conversation with her, and replying to similar topics on the DML at the
same time. Just a really weird feeling.

Drive safe everyone.
