when it comes to Jeeps offroad -
if you're not breaking something, you're not doing it right. but
that's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.

hehe

come to think of it, have the Dakotas ever broken anything *real* while
offroad? tires, yes; transfer cases afterwards, yes; a few trim
pieces, yes; but if you discount waterlogging (no, Tom, this isn't
exclusive to you) - it probably eliminates even most of the problems
below.

Discounting the above, I think that leaves the Barney truck's brush
guard damage in '00; Tom's wheel bearing in '04; David's fan blade in
'99; and I thought Andy lost lots of fan blades from his '99 somewhere,
but I didn't see that.

... and then the '04 meet, which kinda proves me wrong....

Adam: 2001 Dakota SLT, CC, V8, 4x4

        • Engine Timing Thrown Off
        • Right Front Tire Blow Out
        • Idler Pulley Bearing Failed
        • Tensioner Pulley Failed
        • Two Drive Belts Destroyed
        • Engine Took In water
        • Overheated
        • Eventually Towed Home

Andy: 1999 Dakota Sport, CC, V8, 4x4

        • #'s 3 and 4 Cylinder Misfires
        • Engine Trouble Codes
        • Left Fog Light Out
        • Lost 1st Gear And Overdrive
        • Towed Home

Dakota: 1998 Dakota Sport CC V8 4x4

        • Transfer Case Exploded
        • Bent Front Drive Shaft
        • Front Passenger Hub Failed
        • Front Input Pilot Bearing Roasted
        • Snapped Lugnut Off Right Rear Wheel
        • Eventually Towed To Neil's For Repair
        • Truck Home After Two Weeks

Jason Yates.: 1998 Dakota Sport CC V8 4x4

        • Engine Took In Water
        • Internals Presumed Ruined (burning large amounts of oil)
        • Overheated
        • Engine Replaced With Used Motor

but still: no snapped axles, no rollovers, only one real swamping, no
lost steering knuckles or CV shafts, no blown diffs, etc. we've got
*so* much more to do! ;-)
