This reminds me of something that happened to my buddy. He had a 1998
Ford Contour SVT model. For those who don't know what the Contour SVT
is - its a high output version of the regular Ford Contour, made by
Ford's Special Vheical Team - same guys that do the Lightening and the
Cobra mustang. Engine is more powerful, stick shift, leather, sport body
ground effects kit, special wheels and badges. Nice car. One day my
buddys girlfriend was getting into the car, and the driver side front
coil spring failed. It litterally broke in two. Turns out the Contour
was under a RECALL for that problem happening. He takes the car into a
dealer - after CALLING and having the dealer confirm that the SVT
Contour was part of the recall. Gets the car towed there - then the
dealer says "oops its not covered"

At this point I took it upon myself to do some foot work. I called
several dealers, both here in wisconsin and down in chicago. The
dealers DID confirm that for some reason the SVT model of the Contour
was NOT included in the recall. Even though they are the same damned car
with the same damned springs. The dealer says "oops" and tells him it
will be a few hundrid bucks to repair. My buddy is raging inside but
keeping his cool at the showroom. He argues with the guy for a while
and they wont even give him the keys. They want him to pay the towing
charge from when they came to pick up the car! My buddy gets real
pissed and leaves the dealer before he gets arrested for beating someone
up, and peels outta the drive way lighting up the tires on his other car
(1987 Nissan 300ZX). After several more phone calls and threatening
the dealer, they agreed to town the car back to my bud's house - at no
charge. However the car arrived with damage to the body kit. Tow truck
screwed it up when loading the car up. I ended up getting the coils for
him at a good deal and I went down to chicago and helped him change the
coils out.

I hate dealers.
