My Black Magic does fine except for stop and go traffic here in the South,
so I just put my mechanical fan back on as well. It takes a lot of weight
off but does not move as much air.

| That's just amazing! Why would mopar put in electrics if it would

Noise? Electrics are, believe it or not, generally louder than
engine-driven fans. My BM150 was quite scary, in fact. Plus the
heavier load on the electrical system. And a lot higher chance of
problems if the driver encounters deep water (not that *I* would know
anything about that :P)

You also need a *lot* of fan to keep these trucks cool in "any"
conditions. I had a BM150 on my '99 318 and it was close enough to
borderline that when I destroyed it, I went back to the mechanical fan.
~ In the deep south, in summer, in a traffic jam, forget it.

I did not notice a significant increase in mileage when I put the
electric on my 318.
