The webcam quality has been pretty bad, getting constant scan
lines going through it, poor quality at distances that were no
problem before, etc. (They are X10 wireless cameras.) Yesterday
I played around with turning off different lights, computers, etc.
but it didn't seem to make a difference. Just now I got annoyed
enough to do a quick google search, and discovered some people
running wireless networks were having similar troubles because
both devices work in the 2.4GHz range. Hmmm.... I unplugged the
wireless access point and sure enough - back to the quality I
was used to. :-)
Unfortunately, that means we have to choose between a randonly
crappy webcam pic and wireless access. If anyone is planning
to bring a laptop with a wireless card, I suppose I can just put
the access point on a switch so we can flip it on and off as we
need it.
Well, back to trying to get the barn ready for the BBQ! BTW,
I got a voicemail from Mike today saying he expects to arrive
here tomorrow morning, so maybe now the webcam will actually have
something worth looking at. :-)
