Ahhh I can never pass up a chance to bad mouth the A-500 Tranny. The
A-500's legendary weakness is the OD unit. I had the OD unit grenade on
my 2wd 1989 - took out the rest of the trans internals - via
contaminated fluid. The torque converters have also had iffy performance.

You can put a 3 speed non OD version of that Loadflite in there. You
will most likely have drive shaft compatibility problems. if I remember
correctly the 3 speed auto is shorter. Being that your 93 is a 4x4 -
its possible the tail shaft housing would compensate for that length
difference. Can't say for sure as I do not remember what the length
differnece are between the 3 speed auto 4x4 and the 4 speed auto 4x4
trannies.

Because you have the A-500 - I assume you have a V6. You can put a 46RH
or a 46RE (H being manual - non electronic controlled - E bing
electronic controlled) transmissions in there. 46RH would prolly be the
best bet as you would not have to deal with electronic compatibility
issues. There may or may not be length issues between the A-500 and the
46RH. Drive shaft modifications may be required. Another option is to
locate a trans shop - similar to what Josh Battles did, and have them
build up your stock tranny.

As for torque converters - I'm sure someone out there makes a
performance TQ Conv for the A-500. Just gotta find one. I do not know
of any off hand.
