Some of the crappier PCs out there (Compaq, low-end stuff from Dell, HP,
etc.) has had trouble. Any PCs that come with "tweaked" versions of
Windows or tons of extra software loaded in for no apparent reason are
prone to trouble too.
SP2 installed fine on my XP Pro "generic" box and our XP Home eMachines
laptop. Had trouble with my father's Dell laptop running XP Pro but I
tried multitasking while it was installing. All from the same SP2 CD.
Left him w/ a copy of the CD and it installed OK for him later. Marci's
father got burned by SP2 because he had a ton of spyware and junk on his
computer.
For best results, make sure your system is perfectly clean of viruses &
spyware, install from a CD, and just walk away from the system while
it's running
