I use a manual switch w/ auto turn on by temp--- and a Hi/lo speed switch -- 99.9% of the time-- low speed is all that's needed (I ONLY use low on my 2000 RT). 2000+ kits get all new washer bottle/pump and overflow bottles-- as the factory fan shroud is deleted (really frees up the engine bay). Both 1997-99 and 2000+ kits fit 3.9L/5.2L/5.9L-- and have automatic and manual turn on control.
Have 1 truck running LO only for over 13 months, plus my truck since Feb of this year. Driven through 110 F temps of the Southern California Desert, Las Vegas-- drove the truck to Houston Texas from San Diego last week of Sept to race at the 2004 Dakota RT Club National meet-- then drove home (3300 miles round trip). Then back to PHX 2 weeks ago to race at the Truckin Nationals.
Customers expressed the need for the high speed option, and so far the people in Florida (south florida @ that) have given great feedback-- that HIGH speed is basically NOT needed. It cools the truck that well.
92-96 is being developed now.
