DOT might not have allowed the truck to be released with a full which,
hanging outside the truck. it would also be an insurance problem. i think
there was the choice: winch or diesel. although more people would use the
diesel, that would have added an additional $4k to the price of the truck
(which is already high enough) and then there's the problem of all the
additional weight of the diesel.
i'm not saying it was a good move, but i think it was a necessary move.

Damn, I think I just posted a blank reply.
Anyway, it's pretty retarded on DC's part if that's the case. The winch
didn't have to be fully recessed into the bumper like that.
