Had the truck into the local dealer (Peter Koch in Seneca Falls, NY)
today for NYS inspection and a check of the balljoints before my
warranty runs out. The other 2 dealers I've been to "regularly" since
purchasing my first Dak, I've been increasingly concerned about (this
doesn't count the dealer I got the first Dak from, as he wasn't local)
due to their communication and general attitude. So I took a chance on
the convenience of Peter Koch, only a mile from home.
It was great. I got a call as soon as the truck was finished - I didn't
have to call to ask what was going on with it. He reported that
inspection was fine (duh), and they found no problem with the
balljoints, even after taking it for a good test drive. I asked if they
put it up on the rack to check, and he said yes, no looseness, no torn
boot, everything checked out fine.
Picked the truck up tonight, found that my seat hadn't been moved at
all, and they left the paper floormat in the truck, so I knew they
actually used one (the last few dealers, if they used one, I don't know
it, since it wasn't there when I got the truck back).
Wish I'd gone there earlier, but I didn't see a 5-Star sign out front so
I assumed they weren't - but when I called, they answered with "we're a
5-star dealer"
