I guess silence indicates agreement. If nobody is talking about the
results, does it mean that everyone agrees that they're just fabulous?
I hope all the work we (and particularly Jon) are putting in to this
voting process is of benefit, and the rest of you guys out there aren't
just shaking your heads wondering why we're going to so much trouble. The
easy thing to have done would have been to decree that the meet will be in
Denver, simply because that's what we wanted. Even if the final result
does go to Denver, we'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it was
selected through a democratic vote, and it represents what the majority
wants instead of just what we pushed on the list.
While the members of the organizing comittee do all prefer Denver, you
should all know that we're being very careful to conduct the voting in a
fair and unbiased manner, and give everyone's suggestions equal billing.
We've been doing a lot of research behind the scenes in to the areas that
have been suggested, and figuring out the most fair way to select where
this meet is going to be held. This is unfortunately a long process, but
we're just about ready to start with the final selection. Everyone's
patience is certainly appreciated.

While preparing some maps for Denver and Springfield to show the general
areas in consideration, I noticed all of the huge amounts of green space
in Colorado. This all represents national forests, state parks, or other
designated recreational areas.
I know I talked about Breckenridge before, but the more I look at where it
is on the map, the more I think it's in the perfect spot. It's about an
hour and a half west of Denver, so we'd be close enough to get back to the
city for the day for any drag racing or other city activities. It's right
in the mountains, plus it would make an excellent jumping-off point to go
explore the rest of Colorado to the west of Denver.
To be fair to Missouri, it looks like there's quite a bit of recreation to
be had there as well, particularly large lakes. I've never been there, so
I really have no idea what to expect. I *have* been through Colorado, and
I can tell you that I know we'd have an awesome time exploring it for a
week.
Just my own opinions, of course.
