About the caps being slightly larger. I too was confused but I have a theory on this:
some people complained ( and DC took notice of this ) that the wheel caps were
getting lost. so they re-tooled the mold for this part so that it comes out 0.030"
larger.
that way when you insert it into the wheel you get a nice loud "pop" sound. not like
before which was a soft "snap" sound.
I pulled off the one on my rear wheel ( which is the original 1992 wheel cap ) and
measure about 0.030" diff. just about a millimeter.
Granted, you have to give it a nice pounding with a rubber mallet or something similar.
But the added security in the fact that I wont have to buy another pair of wheel caps is
worth the effort.
