Yes, it's a good idea to unplug the fog lights before pulling them away
from the wiring harness forcefully.

Those bolts can be a HUGE pain to break loose. I know this one bunch of
guys who decided to use a plasma cutter to finish the job. And then,
about 9 months later, they used a plasma cutter AGAIN just inches from
someone's gas tank! Be careful, those guys have major issues.
