Not so much with an existing car, but it's to let you
put a turbo engine that is somewhat UNDERpowered. Then
you get your good mileage with the V6, but when you stomp
on it, build up boost, then you have the big V-8, and its
gas mileage. Normaly, boost would kick in only a few %
of the time, and you get the good mileage of the V6 rest of
the time.
