Got a call at work today from the guy who ended up buying my '03. He
found my work # on the service records I'd left in the glovebox and
wanted to ask me if I'd seen any "unique" behavior w/ my truck when I
traded it in.
He bought it less than 2 weeks ago and late last week, as his wife was
driving through a rather hilly area, the truck started acting like it
had blown a head gasket! Temperature spiked and it was blowing white
smoke out the tailpipe.
They took it back to the dealer they bought it from, who left it idling
for over an hour in their lot and couldn't find anything wrong. So he
was curious if I'd seen anything like this. Obviously I hadn't. And,
obviously, I have no liability here, he was just trying to do some research.
Is it possible that there was a tiny leak/flaw in the gasket, and I
hadn't loaded the engine enough to make it actually leak? Anyone else
experienced anything like this? Possible that the truck hardly being
driven (maybe 7000 miles) in the last 6 months I owned it lead to a
deterioration?
